CPA, Offers in Compromise

Jessica McCarthy is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in New Jersey. She joined the firm in 2017 and leads its Offer in Compromise practice.

An Offer in Compromise succeeds or fails on the financial disclosure behind it, and most rejections trace back to the analysis rather than to the taxpayer's circumstances. Ms. McCarthy's work begins with determining whether a client realistically qualifies before anything is filed, then building the Form 433 package and supporting memoranda the way an IRS offer examiner will test them. She handles special-circumstances submissions in particular — cases involving financial hardship, disability, or serious medical issues, where the standard collection formula does not reflect what a taxpayer can actually pay.

Before joining the firm she spent her career in corporate tax, including work at Arthur Andersen and Deloitte, managing tax compliance and consulting for middle-market and SEC-registrant clients, and later serving as tax manager for a middle-market corporate tax department. That work covered financial reporting, tax provisions, and audit defense.

Focus: Offers in Compromise · collection alternatives and relief qualification · special-circumstances submissions · IRS financial analysis and Form 433 preparation
