Valeriya Avdeev's practice covers estate planning and tax planning for individuals, families, and closely held businesses. She is licensed in both New York and New Jersey and is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court.
She began her career after law school in Deloitte's Lead Tax Services group, where her responsibilities included corporate, partnership, and high-net-worth individual compliance. That grounding in the compliance side informs her planning work: structures are built to survive examination, not only to look efficient on paper.
Alongside her practice, Ms. Avdeev teaches at William Paterson University, covering business law and ethics at the graduate level and corporate and partnership taxation at the undergraduate level. She writes and publishes on tax planning, entity formation, and IRS compliance, with work appearing in The CPA Journal, the New York Law School Law Review, and the Duquesne Business Law Journal. Her research on Schedule K-1 document matching was cited in Tax Notes, and her article on condominium and cooperative like-kind exchanges was noted by TaxProf Blog. She also writes for the firm's tax articles library.
